Euromapping

Euromapping gathers information on Official Development Assistance funding levels related to the Programme of Action resulting from the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) 1994 in Cairo. The project looks at what lies behind the rhetoric and compares the pledges and commitments made by European countries and the European Union with their actual contributions to sexual and reproductive health. This research provides NGOs with a strong advocacy tool to hold all European governments to account and urge them to honour their promises related to public spending.

EuroLeverage: Leveraging European resources for global reproductive health

DSW’s EuroLeverage project bridges a gap between one of the world’s largest donors to reproductive health and the organisations providing reproductive health information, services and supplies.

On one end of the bridge is the European Union’s desire to improve the effectiveness of its development co-operation assistance. On the other end of the bridge are organisations around the world with expert local knowledge and experience regarding how to improve access to reproductive health information, services and supplies.

With the exception of very few large organisations, these NGOs/CSOs (especially in the developing world) find it very difficult to understand the changes in EU development assistance policies and access EU funds. EuroLeverage bridges this gap, empowering NGOs with guidebooks, training and technical assistance while strengthening the technical knowledge of key EU staff on reproductive health and conducting "watchdog" monitoring of EU fund disbursements.

AHEAD: Advancing HEalthy ADvocacy for Reproductive Health

DSW has implemented AHEAD for Reproductive Health since February 2009. This project aims to strengthen the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to promote reproductive health in the new aid environment.

While coordinated by DSW Brussels, AHEAD for Reproductive Health builds on a partnership between four organisations with expert knowledge of the advocacy environments in their respective regions: Equilibres et Populations Burkina Faso, DSW Tanzania, AFPPD Thailand and DISVI Nepal.

DSW and its partners will conduct four regional workshops between October 2009 and February 2010 that will build the technical and managerial competencies of CSOs related to the design and implementation of innovative advocacy activities. More information on the project can be found here.

AHEAD is funded by the Reproductive Health and Research Department, World Health Organization (WHO).

DSW International Affairs

As the world’s largest donor to global poverty alleviation and economic development, the European Community (EC) is an essential actor towards achieving the MDGs. To this end, DSW actively monitors policy developments and aid flows in the EC's development cooperation.

Euroresources

The EU funding environment for population and reproductive health has often confused professionals in the field, including both NGOs seeking funds and donors seeking to improve policy and funding co-ordination and harmonization. DSW's Euroresources website tries to make things clearer for NGOs interested in affecting the policies and accessing the funds.
